A sliver of paint along the door edge is a great way to add a little pop of  accent color.

It’s like the interior version of a pair of Louboutins.

I just love a little unexpected pop of color, don’t you?

Ingredients:

2 8-ounce packages cream cheese, room temperature
1/3 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
3 6-ounce jars marinated artichoke hearts, drained, coarsely chopped
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese (about 2 1/2 ounces)
3 green onions, finely chopped
2 teaspoons minced seeded jalapeño chili

Preparation:

Using electric mixer, beat first 8 ingredients in large bowl to blend. Fold in artichokes, mozzarella cheese, green onions and jalapeño. Transfer to 11x7x2-inch glass baking dish. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)

Preheat oven to 400°F. Place pita triangles in single layer on baking sheet. Brush with oil. Sprinkle with salt. Bake until crisp, about 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Maintain oven temperature.

Bake dip until bubbling and brown on top, about 20 minutes.

Rating: 5 out of 5 spoons

Notes:

I substituted havarti cheese for the mozzarella and left out the jalapeno chili … I felt it would overrun the cheese taste (which, I absolutely couldn’t have).

I’ve had to throw away jewelry because the knots they managed to create in themselves were beyond repair (RIP cute purple chunky necklace).

Something had to be done.

We just relaunched the editorial section at my job and it has been an insane last few weeks, hence for my lack of posting. Remember when I received that promotion?  Basically, it’s the same ordeal. But without the increase in pay. Darn.

But I just have to get my new groove going at work and I’ll be back to blogging here. I promise. Bear with me.

Which is your favorite?

House Beautiful has been sporadically placing blue chairs around NYC the last two days, in honor of their upcoming “Blue” issue. They have been giving hints of the chairs’ whereabouts via Twitter, and I have been furiously following their tweets.

Alas, they never ventured towards the Murray Hill/Flatiron District by my work (they were, however, only a few blocks from my apartment on the Upper East on Tuesday. Drats!).

With each tweet, I crossed my fingers. Finally, the very last stop was posted. Rockefeller Center. I’m not near there, but I figured, what the heck. The prize? A beautiful Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams ‘Wyatt’ chair. Obviously worth skipping lunch for, so I set off.

Two other chairs were being given away, but they were kids’ chairs and, since I don’t have kids, my mind was set on the MGBW one.

I get there with 15 minutes to wait. I linger, my eyes frantically searching around the ice rink, ready to pounce on any blue chair I saw. Little did I know, another design savvy tigress was snooping around. The chairs finally arrived and she was just a bit more fierce than I. The chair was beautiful, but not worthy of a hospital trip (and to tell ya the truth, after seeing it in person, I’m not sure it would have fit in my apartment).

It was like an insane version of musical chairs. But with a single, oh-so-lovely chair. But I lost the big prize.

I then thought of my senior editor, who just gave birth to two beautiful babies, and claimed one of the kids’ chairs as my own on her behalf. She appreciates good style, and I know little Hunter and Penelope will one day enjoy it.

But one person’s trash is another’s treasure, am I right? Point in case:

Found this puppy on the sidewalk by my apartment last night. Poor thing, all it needs is a little tender loving care. Nothing a few coats of paint (and a new drawer for the bottom) can’t fix.

No idea where I’ll put it, but I figured if I can’t find a place, then I’ll just put it back out on the sidewalk for another creative person to find and give it a new home.

In the meantime, Scout the Cat is enjoying a new height to perch upon.

Well, it’s super icky outside, so I need a little overly-cheerful-at-all-times pick me up.
