I know, I’m awful.
We just relaunched the editorial section at my job and it has been an insane last few weeks, hence for my lack of posting. Remember when I received that promotion? Basically, it’s the same ordeal. But without the increase in pay. Darn.
But I just have to get my new groove going at work and I’ll be back to blogging here. I promise. Bear with me.

The other day, I wrote about handwritten letters and it reminded me of how my grandmother used to handwrite all of her delicious recipes onto index cards. And though the cards are now beginning to yellow and the ink is beginning to fade, I loved looking at them when I was at my mom’s house last Christmas.
I can barely make out my grandmother’s scribbles, but I can’t wait till her recipe cards are passed down to me when I have a family to share the delicious recipes with. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to share them with you, too.

I’m heading to the Poconos tonight for a weekend of the beach, boating, and casino fun. I love casinos, but not for the reasons most people do. There’s just something so fantastic about their delightfully tacky decor. I’m pretty sure casinos are the only places that can get away with pulling of that many design faux pas.
I went to Vegas a few years ago and we stayed at Harrahs. Oh, the gaudiness! And check out that carpet!
We’re hitting up Mohegan Sun this weekend. Hehe, absolutely ridiculous, love it!
Have a great weekend!!

My favorite uses for wallpaper actually do not include walls. I’ve been known to frame it, use it as a backing for my bulletin board at work, and decorate bookshelves with it. So, you can imagine my excitement when my friend recommended me this book she knew I’d love (thanks Candace!):
Design experts Derek Fagerstrom and Lauren Smith (co-owners of the Curiosity Shoppe in the SF Bay Area, as well as avid bloggers) share photographs of stylish interiors, foolproof instructions, shopping resources, and craft ideas.

First off, let me apologize for my absence lately. The bad news is that it will have to continue for a bit longer. I’m sorry!
Buuuut…the reason for the absence is the good news…I got a huge promotion at work!!!!
** Celebrating vicariously through the above photo…I haven’t even had time to properly celebrate yet!**
So, as you can see, this new position is taking up tons of my time, and it will continue to do so as I get used to it and until I get a normal, daily routine set. So please bare with me dear readers. I promise, I won’t be gone for long!!

Happy Earth Day!

It’s no secret that I love time worn pieces that are filled with charm. That’s why when I saw Vintagesteph‘s booth at the Brooklyn Flea Market that I attended this past weekend (more on the market in later posts), I was completely blown away. The duo behind this talent is John, who is a self-proclaimed flea market aficionado, and Stephanie who specializes in fashion, home, and garden finds from the 20th century. Together they “treasure hunt” for vintage pieces and John often creates cabinets, birdhouses, and bookcases out of various materials they come across.

Even though it’s officially spring, it’s still blistering cold up here in New York. To keep myself from getting overly jealous of all my friends back home under the Mason Dixon line who are enjoying lovely 70-degree weather, I swoon over these spring-y pictures that I found at Absolutely Beautiful Things of an enchanting bed and breakfast in the Netherlands’ countryside. I love the seasonal blues, greens, yellows, and pinks! Take a stroll with me through these garden-inspired rooms!
